With winter on the way, we started getting the itch for a trip. Brice was about to start a new job and vacation was going to be scarce for a while so we decided on a long weekend in the White Mountains. We loaded up the camping gear and headed up for a few days of camping. The leaf change was near peak and we actually got a few days of good weather.
We grabbed a campsite near Mt. Washington and started of with a trip to the top of the mountain via the old cog railroad. We were rewarded with 40 degree temps and 50 mile an hour winds - balmy by Mt. Washington standards. After that, we toured around the park looking for covered bridges and waterfalls - and we were rewarded with several of both. We wrapped up with a hike to the Zealand AMC hut. The colors were absolutely mind bending and the overcast skies made the trees seem even brighter (if thats possible).
